“How big was it?”

 “My first? 6 inches.”

 “That’s tiny.” The disappointment was palpable - all that huff and puff for something that small.

 “But as I got older, I got bigger ones.”

 “Thank god for that.” The relief evident.

 “Within a few years, I had a 12 inch.”

 “Very impressive.” It was impossible to do anything decent with something less than 10 inches.

 “I had to keep it well hidden.”

 “Why?”

 “To protect it.”

 “Does it need protecting now?”

 “No. I can control it.”

 ‘I bet you do’ Kathryn thought, moving closer to Chakotay.

 “Watch the telescope!” Chakotay yelled.
